3 weeks and counting! From 18th to 21st July the SMPTE 2017 Exhibition will be on show at the new International Convention Centre, Darling Harbour . Please visit booth G04 to see some great product demos of the latest broadcasting technology from our world class supplier partners. Joining the Sonifex team this year will be manufacturer representatives from Nautel, Tieline, Orban and Sonifex UK so please let us know if you’d like to schedule a meeting or specific product demonstration.

We’ll be exhibiting a host of great equipment including the award winning Nautel GV5 FM transmitter, new DAB monitor and receiver products from Inovonics, the latest in Sonifex’s AVN range of AoIP talkback units and an extensive display of Tieline codecs including the revolutionary new ViA! You’ve read the accolades about the ViA and now’s the chance to play! There’ll be two units available on our booth for hands on demonstration and expert Tieline advice from Charlie Gawley. We’ll also have a full line up of Orban Optimod AM/FM/DAB and TV processors along with site monitoring and control solutions from Davicom.

SMPTE Conference Program 2017

Don’t miss a special technical presentation from Nautel’s Chuck Kelly on  “Ambient Noise Levels in Radio Frequency Bands” –  Thursday 20th July 11:30

The noise floor within the AM and FM broadcast frequency bands can be divided into intentional radiators and unintentional radiators. While the contribution of intentional radiators has increased significantly in the last two decades with many new full power and low power stations, the growth of unintentional radiators has been dramatic. All microprocessor based devices have clock frequencies in these bands, and many compact fluorescent lights and LED lights emit substantial RF energy in the MF and VHF bands.

In this expert presentation by Chuck Kelly the impact of these unintentional radiators will be addressed and possible mitigation strategies discussed.

For RF engineers and enthusiasts in terrestrial broadcasting, this is  a presentation you won’t want to miss!
