Tieline: ViA Firmware v2.20.06 Update

Leading audio codec manufacturer Tieline Technology has announced the release of new firmware v2.20.06 supporting a wide range of new features in the ViA remote codec. This is the first official release to support the TieLink Traversal Server for simpler IP connections and supports the Dual Active SIM LTE module.

“Tieline’s highly anticipated new ViA firmware release will excite broadcasters with its huge list of new features,” said Doug Ferber, VP Sales Americas. “Many new features will deliver significant workflow improvements that enhance and expand the options available for remote broadcasts. It also cements ViA’s position as the most feature-packed and flexible remote codec on the market today.”
This free update also delivers the ability to create all program connection types using the touch screen, so no PC is required. Plus, users will see a new 3 x mono connection use case for more flexible connection options. Ultra-reliable IP streaming is further enhanced with support for configuring up to 3 SmartStream PLUS redundant streams per audio stream. This means that four simultaneous audio streams can be transmitted using different IP interfaces, which significantly reduces the chance of lost IP packets over networks like the internet.

Other significant inclusions include:

  • Support for FTP of audio files to allow uploads of locally recorded files for news ingest or podcasts.
  • Support for Wi-Fi Hotspot mode and tethering of Android smartphones.
  • The Connections panel in the Toolbox Web-GUI now allows editing of programs and dialing endpoints.
  • Support for SIP EBU 3368 profiles.

“Using Tieline’s ViA is like taking an entire radio studio with you on the road,” says Tieline’s  Charlie Gawley. “There’s no need for additional gear like mixers, equalizers, compressors, recorders and playback machines – with ViA everything is combined in a compact and lightweight portable codec.”
