Welcome to Sonifex
It’s been a little while getting the first Sonifex newsletter under way but here it is finally! For those of you who attended SMPTE this year you’ll know that the event marked our official rebranding from Innes Corp to Sonifex in Oz and our thanks go to everyone who visited our booth and joined in the celebration. The fantastic support from our partner suppliers Nautel, Orban, Tieline, Sonifex Ltd, Davicom and Inovonics was also greatly appreciated.
While the past couple of months have been busy and varied, there has especially been some major highlights on the NAUTEL front. A shipment of 19 new transmitters was recently delivered for the Southern Cross Austereo network, ACE Radio has installed the first GV series FM transmitter in Australia with a second installation by Sky Sports Radio imminent, Capital Radio has announced the procurement of 24 new transmitters in a 2 year roll out plan and Broadcast Australia will shortly take delivery of the first NX10 AM transmitters in the country.
Our new website is also up and running www.sonifex.com.au and is fully loaded with all the product information of our brands. If there’s anything missing that you’d like to see, please give a shout out.
Thanks for subscribing to our newsletter and until next edition, happy broadcasting!

Engineering News
With the release of Windows 10 a few months back, all our Sonifex radio capture and sound cards have been tested on this platform with no issues found or driver updates required. Flashlog 8 and Flashback 8 are also supported and the Flashlog manual has been updated with a Windows 10 installation guide.
Eighteen months after the first Flashlog 8 shipped, we are pleased to report that the addition of an Adaptec raid controller has greatly improved the robustness of the overall system. Despite the use of Western Digital Enterprise hard drives, there are occasional failures and in past incarnations the rebuild process has required careful navigation. With the Adaptec raid controller installed, the management utility offers clarity on the state of the array and each of the drives therein. Failures and subsequent rebuilds are handled effortlessly by the Adaptec raid controller, eliminating the interference to logging which had been experienced when a sizeable rebuild occurred while the logging service continued running. We would strongly recommend the inclusion of this card in any future Flashlog builds.
To ensure the best performance and stability of Flashlog and Flashback, please check that the most recent updates have been applied as follows:
Flashlog 8.02r7
Flashlog 7.26
Flashlog 8.02r5

Nautel PhoneHome™
Calling Aussie Nautel users! Have you registered for PhoneHome?
One of the latest innovative features available through the Advanced User Interface (AUI) on GV, NX, NV^LT and VS Series transmitters is Nautel’s PhoneHome. Provided your transmitter maintains a connection to the internet, it will send one-way data like status and alarm information to the PhoneHome servers for use by Nautel’s Customer Service department in helping troubleshoot a problem if one should ever occur.
Please check that your transmitter is running the latest version software http://www.nautel.com/support/technical-resources/latest-software/ then to activate PhoneHome, select Nautel PhoneHome in the User Settings of the transmitter AUI and check the ‘Enable Participation in PhoneHome‘ check-box as shown in the screen capture below. It’s that simple!
Around the world in 80 days
The latest installation of Nautel transmitters in the Southern Cross Austereo network has recently been completed. These two NV20LT’s are the first of this power level to be installed by SCA and are now broadcasting to the greater Townsville community in far north Queensland. Having left the Halifax factory a few months ago by sea freight, they travelled almost 20,000 nautical miles to Adelaide from where they were land freighted 2600 kms + to the transmitter site at Mt Stuart. All up the journey covered almost 40,000kms!
Congratulations to Matt Paton, SCA’s Chief Engineer, Radio, Northern Qld and Trevor Harwood of TJH Systems on a great installation.
