NAB 2019 – Less than 4 weeks to go!

With over 1,700 exhibitors and 50,000+ visitors from around the world, the NAB Show is the ultimate event for media, entertainment and technology professionals… undoubtedly one you won’t want to miss!

Every year manufacturers offer the chance to see what’s current and what’s coming, as well as an invaluable opportunity to discuss all things broadcasting. Below we’ve included some of the anticipated highlights, but if you’re headed to the show looking for something specific, we’d love the opportunity to help you find it.

If you haven’t yet registered for this year’s show, click here and use our Sonifex guest code LV5437 for your free visitor’s pass. There’s a lot of ground to cover at NAB and if you’re a first time attendee you might appreciate some pre-show orientation with the interactive show Floor Plan or myNAB Show Planner.

US Travel Tip: The ESTA website was recently updated advising travellers to apply for an ESTA no later than 72 hours before departing for the United States. Real-time approvals will no longer be available and arriving at the airport without a previously approved ESTA will likely result in being denied boarding. Don’t get caught out!

Inovonics releases SIX new products this year!
This year at NAB, Inovonics is introducing six new products! Over the past year, they have been quietly working to design new products with the radio engineer in mind. Now they are ready to share them with the world.

Every week from now until NAB, Inovonics will be introducing you to one new product. We hope this encourages you to stop by their Booth #N6524 during the show to check out their brand new gear. The first two products are below!

NEW INOmini 674 AM Broadcast Receiver

The INOmini 674 is Inovonics’ second-generation, small form-factor AM broadcast receiver for professional applications. It serves admirably as a ‘confidence monitor,’ and includes alarms to indicate transmission problems. At the same time it can deliver a high-quality audio feed for program distribution throughout the broadcast facility.

NEW INOmini 673 FM Broadcast Receiver

The INOmini 673 is Inovonics’ second-generation, small form-factor FM broadcast monitor for professional applications. A sensitive and selective off-air receiver for standard analog-FM broadcasts, it has application as a ‘confidence monitor’ or as a rebroadcast receiver in FM translator service. The 673 decodes and displays the most important data from RDS/RBDS data groups as well.

NEW Dante AoIP Commentator Units

The new Dante® commentary units will be centre stage at NAB in April, off the back of successful outings at the IBC and AES-NY shows last year. The AVN-CU2 (2 commentators) and the AVN-CU4 (up to 4 commentators) use Dante® AoIP together with 4 wire connections to perfectly bridge the gap between old and new technology. Intuitive, flexible and configurable for virtually any situation, these compact portable units will give you the ease of AoIP connectivity and functionality together with legacy connections that might be needed for existing infrastructure.

Production is underway and Sonifex anticipates shipping will begin following NAB.

New Cortex 320 Manages Remote Sites on a Budget

Davicom’s new Cortex 320 allows you to cost-effectively manage remote site equipment such as radios, antennas, tower lights, power sensors, UPS’s, IP networks, telephone lines and many others. Use the Cortex 320’s built-in intelligence to monitor equipment status and send alarms while reducing false alarms and saving on trips to the site. Automatically reboot devices or manually check their status. Customer surveys have shown that saving one trip per month to a site can pay for a unit in one year.

If you’d like to make an appointment to discuss intelligent telemetry with Davicom at NAB, please email us or call 02 9987 0499.

TieLink Traversal Server to be revealed at NAB

Tieline has announced it will reveal the new TieLink Traversal Server at NAB2019, which is designed to facilitate simple codec discovery, NAT traversal, and connections throughout your entire network.

“The TieLink Traversal Server ensures you will no longer need to worry about complex IP network configuration with Tieline codecs,” said Jake Daniluck, Tieline Sales Americas. “Whether you are running a large network with hundreds of IP codecs, or a small station with just a few, TieLink makes connecting over IP a simple, no-fuss task for non-technical broadcast personnel.”

The TieLink Traversal Server is a secure, independently hosted global server network, with multiple global backups. It centralises Tieline codec contact list management and provides self-discovery of codecs within customised ‘call-groups’. Users can easily view the online or offline status of all codecs in a group and whether it is connected or disconnected. It also provides NAT traversal to simplify connections.

Orban’s “Best of Show” Flagship Processor

Orban will have their full suite of processors available for demonstration on booth #N4120 at NAB this year. If you haven’t heard the OPTIMOD-FM 8700i processor in action you will no doubt be impressed. In the Australian market techs are talking about the contemporary punch this processor lends to golden oldies and the convenience of onboard RDS. The key features worth exploring include:

  • Xponential Loudness™ brings hyper-compressed music back to life, revealing detail and increasing impact while reducing listening fatigue and distortion.
  • Built-in streaming server allows you to monitor the 8700i-processed FM and HD audio wherever there is a LAN or Internet connection using free OPUS and MP3 codecs.
  • Exclusive “Multipath Mitigator” phase corrector reduces multipath distortion without compromising stereo separation.
  • Subharmonic synthesizer adds modern-sounding bass punch to older recordings.

If you’d like to make an appointment to hear the difference, please email us or call 02 9987 0499.
